The Story behind Contigo
When we first fell in love with Cerritos, it wasn’t just the surf breaks, sunsets, or barefoot mornings that pulled us in — it was the spirit of this place. A mix of adventure and serenity, of people who care deeply about community, nature, and each other. That’s the spirit behind Contigo Cerritos — and it’s exactly what the name means: with you.
Over the past two years, there’s been a lot of curiosity (and, understandably, some concern) about what we’re building at the base of Gavilan Hill. So we wanted to share directly, in our own words, the why and the how behind Contigo Cerritos — because we believe the best communities are built on transparency and trust.
Why We’re Building Contigo
Contigo Cerritos isn’t a commercial development for us — it’s personal.
This will be our home, the place we plan to live, create, and welcome friends, neighbors, and family for years to come.
After years of real estate and development experience in the U.S., we wanted to bring the best of what we’ve learned — thoughtful design, environmental stewardship, and financial discipline — to Baja, while staying true to the land we love.
We aren’t building to sell and move on. We’re building to stay. Every decision — from architecture to water management — is made with care and accountability, not speed or profit.
How We’re Building It
Our guiding principle is simple: to create something that belongs to Cerritos, not imposed upon it.
That’s why we partnered with Sanzpont Arquitectura, an internationally award-winning sustainable design firm. Their vision preserves hillside view corridors, minimizes grading, and integrates local materials and native vegetation into every design.
We’re proud that Contigo Cerritos will include:
The area’s first desalination plant, ensuring water independence.
An on-site, municipal grade wastewater treatment plant to recycle water for irrigation.
Solar-ready roofs and optional battery backup for energy resilience.
Relocated native plants and xeriscape landscaping to protect biodiversity.
Permeable pathways and partial living roofs that support groundwater recharge.
In short, Contigo Cerritos is being built with sustainability, safety, and longevity at its core.
Addressing Concerns and Misinformation
We understand that new development can bring questions. And we welcome them.
However, some statements circulating online have included inaccurate information about our permits, experience, and intentions.
Here are the facts:
The project fully complies with the local PDU and all municipal and federal regulations.
All environmental and engineering studies are being conducted by certified experts.
As experienced developers, we’ve created comprehensive cash-flow forecasts and will not begin construction until we are fully funded to ensure completion.
We believe transparency builds trust. Anyone with questions is welcome to meet with us in person, to visit the site and review the plans. We’d be happy to walk you through the sustainability measures, design details, and permitting process so you can see firsthand how thoughtfully this project is being built.
If you’d like to learn more or schedule a visit, please reach out anytime at hello@contigocerritos.com or through our website’s contact form. Let’s keep the conversation open, respectful, and fact-based — because when we work together, we can ensure Cerritos continues to grow in a way that honors the land, the people, and the spirit that make it so special.
